Starting Out
When you first create your character and log into Riddleridge, you will be in our starting town of Camp Genesis at the tutorial area.
The Tutorial
If you're new to Wurm, it is suggested that you go through the tutorial to learn about the game. You will also get an hour of sleep bonus time that is useful to help speed up skill leveling. If you don't need the tutorial, you can opt out before starting it, or enter /skipTutorial into a chat window.
/skipTutorial and then press ENTER again. But you won't see what you're typing, so type carefully. You can always redo the tutorial later by typing /tutorial into a chat window.
Once you finish the tutorial, you should walk down the path to Bridgeport where you will find many resources to prepare for your adventure!
Communicating With Other Players
Click on the chat text input area on the bottom of the chat windows that are normally on the lower left corner of your screen. Or you can just hit the ENTER key (while not typing in another input area) to put your cursor there. After typing your message, press the ENTER key to send it. The text you entered will be sent to the active chat tab.
Use the GL-Freedom chat to ask general questions. This chat is visible to everyone on any server.
Stay Alive
While you are in Bridgeport, the guards will take care of most aggressive creatures that wander into town. But once you leave town, the guards will not leave to help you. If you wander off the deed and get attacked, your best bet is to run back to town; once the creature crosses the deed line, the guards will come to assist you.
Do Some Work Orders
Work Orders can earn you money and give you the opportunity to raise your skills while you get familiar with the server. Take advantage of these!
Food and Drink
There is a well on the east side of the Industrial Park where you can sate your thirst. If the kitchen is staffed, you can obtain a meal from one of the cooks, but non-citizens are not permitted to prepare meals or access the larder. But there is a chest of snacks by the forges that is usually stocked with complimentary items that you can heat up in a forge when you get hungry.
Become a Citizen
By becoming a citizen of Bridgeport you will have access to many items and resources needed to complete work orders, such as horse-driven carts and storage bins. Once you create your own settlement, your citizenship will transfer automatically.
See Mayor Farnsworth or ask in the global chat for an invitation.
