Liquor Store Robbery
On April 29, 2013, a man walked into Sandy's Beer, Wine and Spirits store in Irvington, Alabama, and asked the owner what time the store closed; he then left.
At closing time, he came back into the store while the owner was restocking his shelves and pointed a sawed-off shotgun to the owner's head and demanded cash. The store owner, who works 7 days a week by himself to support his family, said he saw his life flash before him and got really mad to think he might never see his kids again. He pulled out his own gun and fired at the robber. The man fled, but was hit while getting into his car by another shot; the police found and arrested him shortly afterward. His injury was not life-threatening.
When asked if the owner would be charged for shooting the criminal while leaving the premises, the sheriff said that was not likely because he was defending his life and his property.
