The Push for Control
So why is there such a rabid push for gun control, considering that:
- More guns are used to deter crimes than commit them?
- No consistent correlation between gun laws and lowered crime rates exist?
- Removing the chance of citizens being armed only encourages criminals?
People seem to want to take away guns for different reasons. Certainly many do not know or seek out the information that has been presented in this article, except for maybe the last group described below. I think most gun control advocates fall into one of the following major groups:
- Take from Everyone: Those who really believe that taking away weapons from as many people as possible will make life better for everyone.
- Defer to Others: Those have given no serious thought to the issue themselves, so are easily influenced by peers, celebrities, and authoritarian types. Many are happy to jump on their friends' bandwagon.
- Just the Elites: Those who think that only a select few should have guns.
