White Dye

White Dye is created by using Zinc Lumps.
However, the term "White" is a bit misleading. In Wurm Unlimited, the closer the RGB values of a dye get to the maximum of 255-255-255, the more transparent the color becomes. So at maximum whiteness, the dye is totally transparent and makes no difference whatsoever in the color of the object. Thus, you cannot, unfortunately, make white picket fences, or make any object white that is not white to begin with.
There are two minor exceptions to this transparency rule:
- When you apply any dye to a wood item, the base color is modeled after a type of wood that may be darker than you expect, certainly darker than the lightest wood, pine. Thus, when you apply a white dye to a light wood like pine, it will always become darker.
- Lamps when painted take on the color of the dye for their light output only; the unlit lamp appearance does not change. (Except for buoys, whose base can be dyed separately from the lamp.) In the case of lamps, white dye will make a difference; a lamp painted with a quality white dye will produce a brighter, whiter light.
