Create Tab

The Create Tab shows you the best result you can get by mixing a pigment with 1 kg of solvent. In most cases, the solvent will be fresh or salt water, but to obtain black dye you will mix an Iron Lump with tannin.

Select the pigment you will be using and enter the quality of that pigment. The higher your skill level in Natural Substances is in-game, the more often you will achieve the values shown here. At low skill levels, you will find that you rarely get the higher values (or for Black Dye, lower values) and quality of dye to match the pigment quality. Higher qualities produce brighter colors.

But don't just throw away the lower qualities; quite often they will give you a more natural look that you may desire for many items.

When you find a color you want to use, click one of the Update Container buttons to add it to move it to one of the containers and update the Activity Log. You can change the Amount of the working containers to do further experimentation.

Inside information:

The best color produced by a given pigment will give an RGB value of (155+quality) for the primary color, and (100-quality) for the two other components. Thus, a 20 quality cochineal will produce a 20 quality dye with an RGB value of 175-80-80.
