Trail
The trail allows users to see where they are located in your website. It consists of the selected tab and the trail component, of which you see an example above.
The guillemet (
) points to each of the ancestors of the current page. If the last item in the trail is the current page being viewed (i.e., not a parent of the current sub-topic), you will see the current page indicator (
) pointing to it, as above. The user can click on ancestors to jump back to that page, if desired.
You may notice topics above and below the main items on the trail. These are the immediate siblings of the respective ancestors, and are provided merely to give the user a frame of reference for each, to help prevent them from feeling totally lost on a complex web site.
