Creating Web Pages
SiteLinker makes it easy to create and maintain your web pages. Most of the work is done for you; you can concentrate on the content of your site instead of the details.
Page Layout
A SiteLinker-generated page will generally contain these components:
- The main content (which is the only section for which you would write HTML code, and even that you can avoid by using the Visual Editor).
- The tabs that define the major divisions of your site. These are displayed across the top.
- A list of topics available for the selected page. These are listed along the left-hand side of the page.
- If the current page is nested below a parent topic, a trail is displayed immediately below the tabs, to orient the user and give them a way to jump to parent topics.
Navigation
If a topic contains any sub-topics, it is marked with a guillemet (») after the topic name. Selecting this topic will replace the current page with the selected one, and cause the topic list to change to the new sub-topics. This will also update the trail, to alert the user that they are viewing a child topic.
This strategy minimizes the amount of unrelated clutter on the page, allowing the user to focus on your content. The Trail will display the path to the current topic, and also display sibling pages for each path component to help orient the user.
